You’d be hard pressed to find a country that offers such a rich variety of adventure and adrenaline activities. South Africa’s diverse nature, including over 3000 km stretch of coast often nestled by mountainside, coupled with perfect weather for outdoor activities, make it a treasure chest for adrenaline junkies.
Offering superb climbing, hiking, surfing, horseback safaris, diving, river rafting, mountain biking - and practically any extreme activity you can think of.
The country sports of the best and most diverse, rock climbing world-wide. Cape Town is a treat for climbers, but it is not only the Western Cape that has something to offer. The landscape of forest, desert, mountain and coast allows for countless countrywide hiking trails and mountain bike trails. If abseiling is your thing, a must-do is Table Mountain, or the impressive Storms River Gorge where you can add canyoning into the mix or for an urban crawl, rapp jump down buildings in Johannesburg or Durban
River trips vary from scenic and calm waters to grade five white-water rapids. Kloofing, known globally as Canyoning is also a smoking hot favourite.
If you like the wind beneath your wings, there are a number of paragliding, hang gliding sites, skydiving, helicopter rides, micro-light trips and hot air ballooning, perfect ways to have that bird’s eye view of the African landscape beneath. If however, you prefer the quick-thrill, the 216 metre Bloukrans Bridge nestled between Eastern and Western Cape boasts the highest commercial bungee jump in the world!
Horse trails through winding vineyards, along the pristine beaches or mountainside or if you’re more adventurous, horseback safaris in the wild are all on offer.
No matter what your flavour, gravity rocks in South Africa! |
