South Africa Attractions
With South Africa attractions being so plentiful and varied, the only difficulty in choosing our charming country as your dream destination is deciding which of the attractions should be on the top of your list of South African things to do!

A consistently popular drawing card, South Africa safari packages remain a hit and the Kruger National Park the top game reserve in the country. Be it self-drives, guided tours, cycling safaris or viewing the park by foot, nothing compares with the bushveld experience of this world renowned park in the north of the country.

Known as the fairest Cape, Cape Town is a city of wonder in its own right. From the unique flat-top Table Mountain that features hundreds of hiking routes, the shopping- and entertainment Mecca that is the V&A Waterfront, Cape Point, Robben Island (once a prison for political prisoners), stunning beaches, the Winelands, whale watching spots, the Cape Floral Region, scenic Kirstenbosch Gardens with summer concerts galore, you'll need to schedule a holiday in Cape Town on its own! No wonder it won Favourite Foreign City by the UK Telegraph in 2004, this is a city that almost never sleeps, but when it does, it does so to the sound of breaking waves and salty breezes. South Africa has long been known for producing high-quality wine, and the nearby Cape Winelands of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek constitute a wine lovers' haven.

Another popular South African attraction is the coastal city, Durban, which is an interesting mix of India, Africa and hints of the country's colonial past. Durban Bay is one of the best natural harbours on the South African coastline. In close proximity is uShaka Marine World, a state of the art aquarium, shopping mall and water playground, which promises to keep the kids occupied and happy. Durban is a surfers' heaven, with good diving options in the bay.

Durban isn't the only place to have fun in the sun though. As a large section of the country lies on coast, it's no surprise that South Africa boasts superb beaches. If you're looking for romantic strolls on the beach, fun for the kids, or if surfing and water sport is your passion, you won't be left wanting. The Garden Route also has gorgeous beaches, breathtaking mountains, green forests, stunning river gorges, as well as world-class golf resorts. The Garden Route truly is a paradise for anyone.

If the bright lights of a big city are what attract you, then Johannesburg might be the place for you. Extremely cosmopolitan, this is the city you want to be in for business.

For a more 'ancient' feel of Africa, the Kalahari and Namaqualand offer something unique for the tourist that longs to get in touch with the 'land'. Colourful carpets of wild flowers lay waiting for you in Namaqualand, and the Kalahari is Africa in its most stripped down form. Getting in touch with the land of the past might encourage you to get in touch with the people of the past, and what better way than to do this than a visit to lively cultural villages and townships? Come and experience traditional and contemporary South African culture with a popular township tour, music festivals in Soweto, or an urban- or rural stay in local homes.

One of the most beautiful parts you will encounter during you South Africa holiday package is the timeless wonder of the Drakensberg Region. It is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but also the resting place of South Africa's earliest people. This mountainous wonderland is dressed in rich greens in summer and snow capped in winter. It is a most dramatic mountain range and a perfect place to unwind or have an adventure, whichever you have in mind.

There are countless South Africa attractions, as mentioned before. It is a place that promises to leave you with memories and experiences you will carry with you long after the stamp in your passport has faded. But if, for some reason, you are at a loss as for things to do in South Africa, contact a friendly Ultimate Holiday Planner representative and allow us to point you in the direction of the nearest South Africa attraction.
