South African 2010 World cup - The 32 qualifying teams
Over 680 000 tickets have already been sold and the 32 teams confirmed, 9it is safe to say the FIFA 2010 World cup has all but arrived. With teams like Algeria having caused upsets to reach their first World Cup in 23 years,and judging by the line up of the teams that have qualified, there is no doubt that the tournament is going to be filled with great footbal and intersting challenges.

The top 32 teams who are participating in the FIFA 2010 world cup in South Africa are:

AFRICA:
The African Zone produced drama, passion and excitement , as Algeria returned to the sporting world's most prestigious tournament alongside four of the continent’s strong contenders.

Nigeria

ASIA:
Australia were a surprise at Germany 2006, being the only Asian team to reach the second round, and have earned their place as one of the Asian Zone’s most formidable squads. Japan ultimately deserved qualification for a fourth FIFA World Cup, but they were made to work hard for it. Korea Republic, leaders of the Asian pack, achieved a seventh successive qualification with two matches in hand, and undefeated.

EUROPE:
Some of the European teams qualified with more difficulty than others, most notably France, Europe's footballing giants will be pulling out all stops at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. Regulars who didn't qualify include:Turkey, Croatia, Sweden, Bulgaria, Poland, who all have done well in past tournaments.

NORTH,CENTRAL AMERICA & CARIBBEAN:
USA and Mexico, the undisputed 'big two' of the region finished top of the six-team round. After an impressive campaign, pacy powerful Honduras, booked a late passage to their first FIFA World Cup since Spain 1982. Notably missing are Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica.

OCEANIA:
With only six matches each in the four-nation Stage, New Zealand had a  successful campaign with two tight away wins, but had to wait almost a year to face Bahrain in an intercontinental play-off for a spot in  the world cup.

SOUTH AMERICA:
Brazil, topping their group,  raced into first place, while a revived Chilean team and consistent Paraguay were both impressive in their campaigns. Uruguay were the last team to qualify,  but it was giants Argentina whose campaign nearly ended in disaster.
