Garden Route Package Overview
Garden route tours are a must for any nature enthusiast. This particular Garden Route safari allows participants to watch whales, visit the southern-most tip of Africa, visit the magical Cango Caves, cavort with the world's biggest birds, cruise the Knysna Lagoon and lose themselves in the wonderland that is the Knysna Forest. Join us for the greenest safari in South Africa and have the option of building out your tour with an elephant experience or simply stay on in Knysna for a little longer to allow yourself more time to explore its verdant splendour.
Full Itinerary
Day 1:
Departing Cape Town, we travel along the gorgeous coastal route via Gordon's Bay to South Africa's whale-watching central, Hermanus. Later on in the morning we continue our route to Bredasdorp, where we visit an authentic shipwreck museum and then drive to the southern-most point of the African continent, Cape Agulhas. Early afternoon we stop over at the charming town of Swellendam for lunch, before continuing to the town of Mossel Bay where we overnight.
Day 2:
After breakfast we travel inland to Oudtshoorn via the Tradouw Mountain pass, a dramatic entry into the semi-desert area of the Karoo. We view and interact with the strange-looking big birds, ostriches, and explore the wonderland of Cango Caves. We overnight in Oudtshoorn.
Day 3:
We visit Cango Mountain ranch, coming face to face with crocs and cheetahs, and then drive to George via the Outeniqua Mountain pass. Driving along the Indian Ocean coastline, we will take you to the heart of the Garden Route, the charming town of Knysna. We do a boat cruise on the Knysna Lagoon and explore Tsitsikamma indigenous forest. We overnight in Knysna.
Day 4:
After a hearty breakfast, we set out for an early game drive until midday, past meandering rivers, through forest areas and valleys, over mountain tops and plateaus- ensuring an adventurous and scenic 4x4 African experience!
The highlight of the day is the unique Elephant Experience. Afterwards, you'll be treated to a traditional lunch in an elegant thatch-roofed restaurant. We guarantee you'll be quoting 'I had a farm in Africa' by the end of the day! We travel back to Cape Town through farmlands and rolling hills, reaching our final destination after passing through the orchards and forest of Elgin. Our Garden Route safari ends back in the Mother City.
