The internet is riddled with honeymoon packages that promise newlyweds the sun, moon and stars, and then some! The promise of gently swaying palm trees and the smell of suntan lotion is enough to make anyone go gaga, which is why so many couples choose the traditional island route when it comes to their post-marital getaway.
There are, however, other options when it comes to romantic holiday packages. You could go exploring in the Amazon or set up camp next to Loch Ness hoping to catch a glimpse of Nessie - although both these options seem a tad uncomfortable if you take into account killer mosquitoes and Scotland’s reputation for being, well, rainy all the time - which is where South African romantic holidays come in to save the day.
Here are three good, nay GREAT, reasons why you should consider having a romantic African honeymoon:
- We have great weather, like, all the time. Certain parts of South Africa experience summer rainfall, while others experience winter rainfall. This means that you can tailor your trip to include regions that will have mild weather at the time you wish to travel. An Ultimate Holiday Planner representative will be able to advise on which parts of the country are best to visit during the time you have available.
- The exchange rate is in your favour. Newlyweds are normally a tad skint, especially after the big expense of the wedding has taken a sizable bite out of their savings. Visitors from America, the East and Europe normally find that their stronger currencies allow them to have a great time in South Africa at an affordable price. Nothing wrong with that!
- You will be able to combine your honeymoon with viewing the Big Five. Nothing says ‘throwing caution to the wind’ quite like venturing into the African wilds while on honeymoon. Viewing these majestic creatures up close is an incredible experience and one that every person should enjoy at least once in their lives.
Need one more reason? Well, how about the fact that South Africa is the most developed country on the continent of Africa and can therefore offer visitors bush experiences that don’t require them giving up their creature comforts. If that doesn’t sound like the makings of a spectacular honeymoon package just waiting to happen, I don’t know what does.
